|慈禧太后画像 Portrait of Empress Dowanger Cixi|
The imperial concubine of Qing Emperor Xianfeng, was born
as one of the Manchu clan of Yehenala. In 1852, the second year
of Emperor Xianfeng's reign, she was selected as a Beauty of the
Yehenala clan, and then was appointed as the Honorable Lady Lan.
|仁寿殿 Hall of Benevolence and Longevity|
The Hall of Benevolence and Longevity was the most important hall for political
activities in the garden. Empress Dowager Cixi and Emperor Guangxu handled
state affairs and received foreign envoys here.
|佛香閣 Tower of Buddhist Incense|
The religious pagoda-style tower was first constructed in
1750, the 15th year of Emperor Qianlong's reign, but destroyed
by fire by Anglo-French troops. It was rebuilt in 1891.
|知春亭 Heralding-Spring Pavilion|
The pavilion is located on an isle on the eastern shore of Kunming Lake.
When the ice begins to thaw in earlz spring, willows around the pavilion
turn tender green, hence the name of the pavilion.
|長廊 Long Corridor|
The Long Corridor twists and turns its way. It is a colorful
gallerz. On the beams and crossbeams, there are traditional
Chinese paintings. Most of the human figures some from
Chinese literary classics such as "A Dream of the Red Mansions",
"Journey to the West", "Romance of the Three Kingdom",
and so on.
|南湖島 South Lake Island|
The South Lake Island, largest of its kind on the Kunming Lake, is linked
with the East Dike by 17-Arch Bridge. Surrounded by water on four sides
and with a wide field of vision, it is the best place to enjoy the charming
scenery of the Summer Palace in the Kunming Lake.

On the axis line of the rear slopes of Longevity Hill is a group of
magnificent Buddhist buildings, a replica of the Samyai Monastery
in Tibet featuring both Tibetan and Han architectural styles.
|宝雲閣 Pavilion of Precious Clouds|
Also known as the Bronze Pavilion, the Pavilion of Precious Clouds
is 7.55 meters high and weighs 207 tons, with exquisite decorative
patterns on its walls. Sitting on a white marble base, the pavilion
looks extremely solemn. Lamas used to chant scriptures and pray
for emperor and empress here.

Gandan Monastery is a Tibetan-style monastery in the Mongolian
capital of Ulaanbaatar that was restored in 1990. The Tibetan
name translates to the "Great Place of Complete Joy."
It features a 25-meter-high statue of Migjid Janraisig, a Buddhist
bodhisattva also known as Avalokitesvara.
The monastery was established in 1835 by the Fifth Jebtsundamba,
then Mongolia's highest reincarnated lama. It became the principal
center of Buddhist learning in Mongolia.
The towering 25 meter high peace Buddha statue is one of
the main attractions of the Gandan Monastery.

This Statue is located in the north garden of the Government Building
and its four sides show four different time periods of the State Seal.
The Chinggis khan statue complex is located 54 km
from Ulaanbaatar among beautiful natural scenery on the
bank of the River Tuul, in the place called "Tsonjin Boldog",
a memorial place connected with historic events.
The statue in total is 40m high from the ground and is on
a 10m high foundation, which is surrounded by columns.
